Trevally

These fish are found in two main scenarios, one being them swimming in a school together quite often along with a school of Kahawai in deeper water where you might expect Kingfish. The other is either single or in small groups just above the sand or broken rock and often stumbled upon when snooping for Snapper and like Snapper as they become large fish they develop a hump on their fored. The bigger ones and are a lot more flighty and it would be less likely to fined the granddaddies in the bigger schools. Places like Mayor Island they can be found huddled up together with Copper and Blue Mokis. The flavour of a Copper Moki can be quite average so the trick in this situation is to shoot the trev without shooting the Moki.

Juveniles
Often spotted along weed edges moving up and down the edge quite quick in reasonable size schools.

Adults
At this age they often occupy similar territory as Kahawai, in from of Pinnacles or drop offs where there is a reasonable current.

Seniors
Very similar environment as larger Snapper and just as easily spooked
.
