I thought
I was being quite novel fitting a camera to my speargun only
to find out every spearo and their dog is doing the same thing.
So here are a few other examples from divers around the world
of how they have mounted a camera to their speargun. Although
it can take a while to adjust to having a camera strapped to
the side of the gun, one does get used to it. Canon seems to
be very popular camera brand, I have had a couple. A Canon powershot
A70 and now a Canon powershot 570is which I chose because I
thought the video quality was good and it was small. Although
pretty much all the below examples are photo cameras, for most
of the divers they are mounted as a video camera. A lot of these
videos have ended up on You Tube of course. In some ways a digital
compact is a lot easier than the fully fledged video camera.
The most obvious reason is the size, the cost which can be as
low as $250nzd including an underwater camera housing, digital
file which is easy to work with, by default you can see the
screen as you video, they also have a very deep field of focus.
Some have a white balance mode for underwater which increases
the reds.
